  New Concepts

New Concepts Career Development Corporation went out of business in 2004. We maintain their listing in case someone revives the company. We maintain a database of customers seeking these products or needing replacement parts.

NCCDC products take an individual from interest identification and validation, through vocational assessment, to job placement assistance. These products can be used as a comprehensive curriculum, as stand-alone products or as components in an existing program. This comprehensive line is designed for middle through post-secondary school levels and a multitude of adult populations.

  • Vocational Interest Assessment (independent/stand-alone survey) The VIAS-IV, Vocational Interest Assessment System, has a live action career clip video format with ambient job environment sounds. Responses are automatically scored and several report options can be generated. These reports include a summary of the individual's results, descriptions of the three top interests, vocational clusters of typical jobs in the respective GOE interest area and recommended New Concepts Career Development work stations. With the information gathered, an individual can select a vocational direction, training or job placement. It can be used when an interest survey is required and aptitudes have been gathered from other sources.
  • The Career Exploration Programs (CEP), were designed to intoduce individuals to simulated work activities involved in more than forty-five occupations. The work stations provide a realistic way to explore many career clusters. Each station is self-contained, self- paced and covers a cluster of related careers. Each unit is video administered and provides a hands-on overview of an occupation in one to two class periods. With exposure to various careers, an individual has more knowledge to better determine a realistic vocational goal.
  • The Vocational Evaluation System (VES) - VES work stations furnish a realistic means of exploring a variety of job activities in specific occupations. The job sample is comprehensive, covering a number of job titles in related occupational classifications.

The audiovisual program leads the participant through the entire process from initial work setup to final station cleanup. Jobs in the respective occupations which are simulated at the work station are pictured, with typical work environment sounds and audio descriptions of the work. The critical part of the program is the detailed, step-by-step instructions for performing a series of job tasks representative of a skill cluster.

The final steps are a self-evaluation and an objective rating by the evaluator. Activity checkpoints, time and error standards and work behaviors to be observed are defined in the Evaluator's Manual, with emphasis placed on the quality of the finished product. The procedural instructions, visuals and sound tracks are keyed by number for easy use.

Each VES work station is sold with appropriate high quality tools, a combination TV/VCR, an Evaluator's Manual and an initial supply of forms and materials. The VES is fully warranted by New Concepts Corp.

  • Explore career clusters on CD! ProFILES is now available as an additional career exploration tool when purchasing any of New Concepts Career Development products. Using modern, multimedia presentation techniques, ProFILES consists of a set of full color and sound digital video CDs that provides job information on a wide variety of careers. Each CD contains ten interviews, each referencing a selected career. Responses to the sixteen questions are given by someone in that occupation and are seen and heard on the computer monitor as if they were interacting directly with you. Complete Occupational Outlook Handbook information on each career can be viewed on the screen or printed.
